About Nicky Tarricone, LPC

“Therapy with me is not about fixing you; it’s about discovering how you relate to yourself, your emotions, and your experiences. I believe that even in the most overwhelming seasons, you already hold the strength and resilience needed for healing.”

Nicky Tarricone, LPC

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling from Boise State University. My work is rooted in a deep belief in the mind–body connection and the healing power of safe, authentic relationships. I began my career supporting adolescents in a nature-based wilderness setting and have since worked with both adolescents and adults across inpatient, outpatient, and private practice environments—including psychiatric hospital settings. These experiences shaped my trauma-informed, holistic approach to therapy.

Over time, I found my passion working in the trauma space and continue to be deeply moved by the way our nervous systems hold our experiences. Through my own journey into parenthood, I felt a calling to support individuals and families in the perinatal mental health space. I’m especially passionate about normalizing the full range of life experiences and supporting clients through identity shifts, grief, anxiety, and transitions—particularly when things don’t unfold as expected. While this work is meaningful to me personally, I strive to offer care that is inclusive and affirming of diverse family structures, identities, and lived experiences.

My approach integrates EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and nervous system–informed work, all grounded in a holistic view of healing. I believe meaningful change happens through a therapeutic relationship built on trust, acceptance, and openness. Rather than focusing on what’s “wrong,” I work collaboratively with clients to uncover their innate strength, resilience, and capacity for growth—moving at a pace that feels supportive and sustainable.

Outside of therapy, I feel most grounded when I’m outdoors—whether climbing, mountain biking, or hiking. I also enjoy reading, experimenting with homemade sushi, drinking tea, and spending time with my kids. These moments of movement, curiosity, and connection help shape how I show up in my work and in the therapy space.

Why "Rivers of the Moon"?

Rivers of the Moon Counseling is inspired by nature’s quiet resilience — rivers that continue to flow even under the moon’s soft light. The name reflects the belief that healing is not about rushing forward but about moving steadily, finding calm in life’s transitions, and embracing growth in safe, nurturing spaces. Like the moon, we move through cycles of light and shadow. The perinatal season can bring both—the glow of new beginnings and the ache of uncertainty. Therapy can be a space to rest, reflect, and reconnect with your inner strength.

My Approach

My Therapeutic Approach

I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, and deep respect for your lived experience. I believe healing happens in relationships where you feel safe, seen, and accepted—not rushed or judged. My work is grounded in trauma-informed care and shaped by an understanding of how the mind, body, and nervous system hold our experiences.

Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches and tailor our work to your needs, values, and pace. Therapy with me is collaborative and flexible, offering space to gently explore patterns, process past experiences, and build skills that support meaningful, lasting change.

At the heart of my approach is a belief in your innate resilience. Together, we focus on helping you feel more grounded, connected, and aligned with the life you want to live.

Healing Begins with Connection

At Rivers of the Moon Counseling, therapy is more than conversation — it’s a safe, supportive partnership. Together, we’ll explore challenges with compassion and openness, helping you discover resilience, strength, and hope along your journey.

Whether you’re facing trauma, anxiety, or major life transitions, you don’t have to navigate it alone. My approach combines evidence-based therapies like EMDR, ACT, and CBT with a focus on mindfulness, polyvagal theory, and acceptance. I like to also incorporate somatic awareness into our sessions as I believe in a holistic approach to healing and that includes acknowledging your body’s experience. Every step is guided by the belief that healing comes through trust, connection, and honoring your unique story.
