About Nicky Tarricone, LPC

“Therapy with me is not about fixing you; it’s about discovering how you relate to yourself, your emotions, and your experiences. I believe that even in the most overwhelming seasons, you already hold the strength and resilience needed for healing.”

Nicky Tarricone, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a master’s degree in counseling from Boise State University. I began my career supporting adolescents in a nature-based wilderness setting and have since worked with both adolescents and adults in inpatient and outpatient environments. I have experience ranging from psychiatric hospital to private practice. I found my passion working in the trauma space and am continually blown away by the connection between the mind and body. Through my own journey and experience into motherhood I found a calling working in the perinatal mental health space. I feel passionate about normalizing all parental experiencies and especially helping mothers navigate the journey into motherhood, particularly when things did not happen as expected. I am passionate about helping clients uncover their innate strength and resilience.

My specialties include trauma focus (with EMDR), post-partum anxiety and depression, and life transitions. I believe healing is best achieved through a therapeutic relationship built on trust, acceptance, and openness. Outside of counseling I love being outside as much as possible. I enjoy being active by climbing tall things through mountain biking and hiking. When I am not outside I love to read, try my hand at amatuer sushi making, drink tea and chase my kids around.

Why "Rivers of the Moon"?

Rivers of the Moon Counseling is inspired by nature’s quiet resilience — rivers that continue to flow even under the moon’s soft light. The name reflects the belief that healing is not about rushing forward but about moving steadily, finding calm in life’s transitions, and embracing growth in safe, nurturing spaces. Like the moon, we move through cycles of light and shadow. The perinatal season can bring both—the glow of new beginnings and the ache of uncertainty. Therapy can be a space to rest, reflect, and reconnect with your inner strength.

My Approach

My Therapeutic Approach

I approach therapy with warmth, compassion, and a deep respect for your story. My work is rooted in trauma-informed care, and I draw on evidence-based practices such as ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), EMDR, CBT, person-centered approaches, and acceptance-based strategies to support healing in a way that feels safe and collaborative.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Cultivating mindfulness and acceptance

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Identifying and reframing unhelpful thought patterns

Gestalt Therapy

Emphasizing awareness and present-moment experiences

Person-Centered Therapy

Creating a safe, non-judgmental space built on empathy

Strengths-Based Approach

Focusing on your innate abilities and resilience

Healing Begins with Connection

At Rivers of the Moon Counseling, therapy is more than conversation — it’s a safe, supportive partnership. Together, we’ll explore challenges with compassion and openness, helping you discover resilience, strength, and hope along your journey.

Whether you’re facing trauma, anxiety, or major life transitions, you don’t have to navigate it alone. My approach combines evidence-based therapies like EMDR, ACT, and CBT with a focus on mindfulness, polyvagal theory, and acceptance. I like to also incorporate somatic awareness into our sessions as I believe in a holistic approach to healing and that includes acknowledging your body’s experience. Every step is guided by the belief that healing comes through trust, connection, and honoring your unique story.
